Book Review: The Davenports

If you’re a part of the From the Heart fam you know that we’ve been reading the davenports by Krystle Marquis this month. Initially I had another book planned but I figured that we need to relax for the summer and get into some fiction.

I used to read fiction books, especially romance, when I was younger. Being on this journey of rediscovering who I am it has been important to step away from the self development, and do something for fun, not because I need to fix something else about myself.

Stepping into the Davenports in a different time period was different for me, but I enjoyed the book. It did seem to move a little slow at times, but overall it was good.

What I loved about this book was the perspective of different women, coming into their own, realizing their own desires and taking the steps they need to go after what they wanted in life despite what others thought.

I could relate to all the characters in different ways. I especially related to Olivia when she reached a point in her story where she had to ask herself what she actually wanted. She had spent her whole life catering to others, doing what was asked, being the good girl (that’s a whole conversation) and realizing it didn’t truly line up to what she wanted deep inside. She discovered her passion stepping outside the norm of what was expected of her. And I loved it for her.

If you read the book I would love to know your favorite parts you enjoyed or what character you related to the most. Comment below!
