Release the Weight of Healing
Sometimes to get the best results you need to put the work down and just live in the moment.
“Healing” seems to be the catchphrase of the season. And if you’ve started that journey you know it’s not light work!
It’s digging up the old. Forgiving others. Releasing anger toward God. Forgiving yourself. Finding new patterns to replace the old. Sticking with it. All while discovering something else you need to dig up as you get triggered along the way.
And it’s not linear. It all happens at random, sometimes they’re even simultaneous moments along the journey. And just when you think you have the hang of it you seem to take 2 steps back.
But what if I told you that you may be missing something in your healing that is vital? And others aren’t talking about this?
You need to have fun.
Let loose.
Relax a bit.
That may sound a bit crazy because healing your mental and emotional wounds is serious work.
But if you want to get back to being that girl you knew (the best parts of her at least) you need to have fun.
Before you check out. Listen, I get it. Especially in the beginning stages you don’t feel like laughing. You may even want the world to burn in the same way you feel. This is not a forced good time. Rather, it’s rediscovering things you enjoy. Watching a light hearted movie over a tense one. Spending time with loved ones. Letting others love on you.
Sometimes to get the best results you need to put the work down and just live in the moment. Remember the hobbies you loved. Try a new place you want to experience.
Remove your focus from trying to be healed, and just be. Let the small moments of joy rewrite the narrative you so desperately want. It’s not going to happen fast. But in time, when you make joy a part of your routine, it will become a part of who you are… again.
