Take Care of Yourself

When was the last time you heard:

“Take care of yourself.”

For me, it was a message someone shared with me as I was leaving the office.

Then two days later, as I found myself sitting in urgent care trying to figure out another developing symptom, those words were released to me again but from someone else:

“Take care of yourself.”

Listen, I was sick for about ten days. It started gradually… and then boom. Suddenly I was down for the count. And honestly, I was upset about not being able to send my emails to my community for those past few Mondays. But if you’re anything like me, you probably understand the struggle.

We’re ready to take care of everyone else first.
Ready to show up, do whatever is needed.
Ready to push through pain, discomfort, and exhaustion just to make sure everyone else is good.

But the question is… are you?

If there’s one thing this year has been repeating to me over and over again, it’s this: slow down. Take care. Get rest. Don’t rush. Don’t keep adding more, just learn to manage what’s already in front of you.

And that’s not always easy when you’ve been conditioned to push through and keep going no matter what.

But maybe it is time we relearn something different.

Maybe it’s time we rediscover what a slow, quiet, deliberate pace can actually produce in our lives. I don’t know, something like more clarity, more strength, and the kind of care that helps us show up whole, not just present.

So consider this your reminder, the same one I had to receive myself:

Take care of yourself.

How can you show up for yourself this week?
