Strength in the Process
March is an in-between season. It’s just turned Spring, but it doesn’t quite feel like spring, with fragments of winter hanging around. And yet, everything is quietly beginning to change.
January and February felt like months that kept reminding me to rest and take things slowly. Even with so much happening in the world, I’ve still felt this gentle nudge: take your time. Don’t rush. Be patient. Give yourself grace.
I was reminded of this again recently because I’m currently in physical therapy.
At first, I was doing the exercises my physical therapist gave me quickly. I just wanted to get through them. I wanted to check the box and mark the task complete so I could get to the healing side of things. so I could say I did it and now I’m feeling better.
But the truth is, healing doesn’t work that way.
You have to take your time. You have to go through the process slowly. You have to rebuild the muscle and regain your strength step by step. Rushing through the exercises doesn’t speed up the healing… it could actually delay it.
And that realization felt like a lesson far beyond physical therapy.
Sometimes the very thing we’re trying to rush through is the thing that’s building the strength we’ll need for what’s next.
The process matters.
The slow work matters.
Being present in the moment matters.
So consider this your reminder to slow down. To be present. To honor the process you’re in right now and allow what needs to be built in you to grow at the right pace.
Because the strength you’re building today may be exactly what helps you sustain in the next season.
What does your ideal day or week look like? What changes can you make to have your real world begin to match the pace of your ideal one?
