Let Go of Your Image (and Ask for Help)

When was the last time you truly asked for help?

The Strength in Asking for Help

One of the most humbling experiences of my life has been learning to ask for help.

As someone who grew up with the mindset of “I’ll just do it myself” and “I don’t want to bother anybody,” it has always been a real struggle for me. I’m talking about breaking down just to ask for help with a paper, let alone reaching out during truly rough times.

Letting Go of Pride

But God never called us to do life alone. We are meant to live in community, and at some point, we all need the help of others.

It doesn’t always have to be dramatic or in moments of crisis. The truth is, we simply need one another. God gave each of us unique strengths and gifts, and with those also come weaknesses. Not as flaws, but as opportunities to lean on one another.

Of course, not everyone is meant to have access to your life, and you can’t ask just ask anyone for help. But it’s time to let go of pride. Lay it down. Ask for help from the ones God has placed in your path.

In the end, you’ll be glad you did. Life becomes lighter. And beyond that, it’s a reflection of God’s love, poured out through His people, showing you that He is with you through community.

Stop trying to be strong all the time. Allow yourself to receive the help you’ve been longing for.
