Two Things Needed for December

December is here, and with it a lot happens:

  • We need to buy gifts

  • Plan hosting duties for Christmas

  • The kids are home on a long break

  • Holiday parties

  • More work parties

Next up New Years!

Not to mention right after Christmas is New Years! Which means this month you also need to:

  • Finish any incomplete goals

  • Think about next year

  • Plan next year

  • Set your goals

  • Create your vision board for 2026

But I've noticed something lately… a lot of us are tired. And I mean tiiiiiiiied! Personally, I fell behind on several projects including writing some blogs. My projects have now piled up and I’m doing my best to play catch up while giving myself grace to not have to do it all perfectly. I have officially divorced striving in exchange for the habit of spiritual and mental rest. I hope that you join me in this quest.

What to Do About It

That doesn’t mean we can’t work hard to get things done. There are things that will only get done if we do them. But, we can alsotake a moment to make sure we ourselves are taken care of in the process. Make sure that we are prioritizing good, completed, quality work over perfected details. Stay hydrated in our process. Get adequate sleep. Take someone’s offer to help.

Two things can be true: we can get things done AND we can check in that we are good.

Applying Spiritual Rest to your life

My friend, this month, let’s take it easy. Pause. Reflect. And enjoy the season in the midst of what needs to get done. There is a true reason for the season and it’s not you working down to the bone so exhausted that you just want it to end. Remind yourself that you are enough, regardless of how much you do or don’t get done. Because you are.

You’ve got this!

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28

Prioritize what you need to do, make it realistic with the time and flow you have. Ask for help if needed.

There is no official book this month. We’ll get back to it in January. If you’d like a holiday suggestion, here are some I’ve heard about:

The Christmas Catch by Toni Shiloh

A Novel Christmas by Charity Shane’

The Most Wonderful Time by Jayne Allen
