Not What It Looks Like: Trusting God When Life Feels Uncertain
1 month. That’s all I had. Enough to pay my bills for 1 more month.
My credit card was filled.
I had been without a stable job for a year.
Even Uber was giving me crickets.
When it seems your options are running out, that's not the time to count God out.
Sometimes there are lessons we need to learn.
Sometimes trials call us to transform ourselves.
When your situation gets bleak do you trust God or your circumstances?
I’m not going to lie, I’m somewhere in between. Snot crying to my friend on the phone while also knowing God can solve this at any moment is the double life I live.
My friend let me get it all out, then reminded me that God will show up. I hung up and did the only thing I knew to do, I prayed. Of course I also looked over my finances a hundred times while making the arrangements I could. Then I prayed again. I had no answer, but if someone did it was going to have to be God. I had to release my situation to Him and believe He would show up for me the way I had seen Him show up for others.
Then I prepared for my next interview. I was advised to walk in the room like I belonged there. Took a deep breath and walked inside. A year without steady income and a week after crying my eyes out I got the job offer before I even made it back home.
I don’t know why the Lord likes to put us on edge, but in the end I’ve seen Him show up more than once in a way that should give me great assurance for my next trial.
So, while you look around at your reality, take time to remember what He’s done and is still capable of doing.
It’s ok to feel disappointment, anger, fear. But, how will you move? How do you talk about your situation?
This is your friendly reminder to not be like me because God is a God who shows up.
It’s not always what it looks like.
God has a plan.
Believe in it.
Prepare for it.
Then walk in it.
