How to Reset for the Next Season of Your Life
As March ends it also marks the end of the first quarter of 2026. And for me, this year started differently. Instead of rushing forward with lofty goals and abrupt changes to my daily rhythms, I chose to move slowly and learn how to maintain my peace.
It seems like many of us have done the same or at least something similar. And now, as we begin to feel the warmth of a new season, it’s time to step into something else I’ve been learning to practice:
Reflection.
Reflection is a powerful tool because it allows you to pause, breathe, and take an honest look at where you are. When you take a moment to step back and see your life from a wider perspective, you’re able to make wiser choices that align with the direction you want to go.
Plus, we don’t pause long enough to acknowledge our accomplishments, especially the small ones that quietly shape who we’re becoming. Reflection gives us the opportunity to do that and soak it all in.
So before we rush into the next thing, let’s take a moment to reflect. If you need guidance on what that looks like, take some time to answer these questions for yourself:
What did you accomplish that made you proud of yourself?
Where did you see growth?
What could have been better?
What season of life are you in right now?
What does this season require of you?
Once you’ve taken time to reflect, it’s time to plan.
I prefer to make plans by writing down a list of what I want to do, along with all the responsibilities I currently have. From there, I decide whether what I want to add is realistic and fits into my current lifestyle and habits.
More than anything it's important to remember to make a plan that aligns with your current season. If this is a slower season, plan to be present. If it’s a season of execution, it may be time to set distractions aside and move forward with intention.
Motivational speakers may tell you to go harder, push more, and do more but if God is inviting you into a season of rest, healing, or being poured into after burnout… it may be wiser to pause. (Ask me how I know)
After you plan, prepare.
Be intentional about how your plans fit into your real life. Schedule them with dates and times that you will do those things. Goals and projects often fall apart not because we lack desire, but because we create plans that don’t align with how we actually live. For example, if I want to work out, I already know it has to happen in the morning. If I wait until later in the day, excuses and the day itself will take over.
Understand yourself.
Understand your rhythms.
And build a plan that works with your life, not against it.
Here’s to an amazing second quarter in 2026.
